Psi Delta Sigma
Psi Delta Sigma is a social group of women with a charitable purpose of supporting United Cerebr
al Palsy (UCP) in California since 1968. Their fund raising efforts have led to over $1,739,000 in total contributions since May 31, 1968.
The National Sorority was founded on February 21, 1921 in the State of Illinois. As of 1948, more than 2,500 members had been initiated and forty-four chapters organized in four states: Illinois, Ohio, California and Wisconsin. In sharp contrast, today there are seven chapters remaining exclusively in Southern California.
Originally incorporated in the State of Illinois, Psi Delta Sigma was reincorporated in the State of California on September 23, 1955 as Psi Delta Sigma National Sorority, Inc. At that time United Cerebral Palsy, as the organization is known today, was selected as the charity to which Psi Delta Sigma would give its total support.
Today they are known as Psi Delta Sigma, Inc. -- a group of social ladies with a charitable purpose. Within the organizational structure is the Psi Delta Sigma Association, or Grand Chapter. A single Board of Trustees serves both the social and charitable organizations: Psi Delta Sigma, Inc. and Psi Delta Sigma Association.
At the 2007 Life Without Limits Gala, UCP-OC honored Psi Delta Sigma with the Gift of Hope Award. This award honors the group, corporation or organization that has provided consistent and generous support of UCP-OC’s programs and services. On December 4, 2008, UCP-OC was proud to have members of the Psi Delta Sigma sorority in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of UCP-OC’s Life Without Limits Pediatric Therapy Center.
