About UCP of Orange County
Founded in the early 1950s by parents and volunteers to serve the needs of children with cerebral palsy, UCP of Orange County now serves children with all types of developmental disabilities and provides vital support to families. Each year, we provide direct services to more than 3,800 people, 86% of whom have a primary disability other than cerebral palsy. Our staff of highly trained professionals includes leaders in inclusion, early intervention, advocacy and community resources, providing services and materials in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Child Care Providers who want to make their child care setting safe and welcoming for children with special needs.
About Developmental Disabilities
All children grow and develop at their own pace and in their own way. Children with special needs experience delays in development that may limit their ability to learn, speak, walk or interact with others. Many children have a combination of disabilities that may make learning or other activities difficult.
More alike than different
Children with special needs are more like other children that different from them. All children have a need for love, acceptance, friends, interests, and a sense of fulfillment. They also have dreams, talents, and stories to tell. Children with developmental disabilities may require special care for emotional, social, health, intellectual or physical reasons.
Having parents and friends that understand and respect their individual differences can help children with special needs feel accepted and valued.
