Jake Ryan Lee Robert Memorial Fund
Jake Ryan Lee Robert was a special young boy who had Cerebral Palsy and was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Jake’s Dad, Steven Robert, was a dedicated member of UCP-OC’s Board of Directors. As part of a fundraising endeavor in 2005/2006, Steven had taken on the challenge of completing his first marathon in honor of Jake and in support of UCP –OC. Steven accomplished this feat on Sunday, January 8th, 2006 at the OC Marathon, and as he completed his final 100 yards, he carried 4 year-old Jake with him in celebration. As Steven recalls, “Jake was so happy, laughing the whole way.” Imagine the great sorrow the next morning when everyone learned that Jake had passed away in his sleep Sunday night. The entire UCP-OC family was heartbroken for the Robert Family.
Upon the passing of Jake, the Robert family set up the Jake Ryan Lee Robert Memorial Fund. “I would love to funnel some of the love for Jake to benefit UCP – our children and families served.” said Steven. Today the Robert family remains active in supporting UCP-OC with its mission. Although Steven and his family now reside in Texas, they continue to come out to California and participate in the OC Marathon to honor their son and support UCP-OC. Thank you to the Robert Family for allowing us to be a part of your family!
